Beechwood Reads
Beechwood Reads is a year-long initiative to get students reading more. Through community conversations, special events, classroom lessons, READING, and a variety of other activities, our focus is to foster the development of personal reading habits and spark students’ lifelong interest in reading.
Why read? In short, reading for fun is linked to expanded vocabulary, improved mental well-being, enhanced critical thinking, greater success in school, and so much more.
Fall Highlights
Author Meet-and-Greet – Our lower grade students enjoyed a very special Author Meet-and-Greet to kick off Beechwood Reads. Bay Area author Margaret Chiu Greanias read her book Hooked on Books, answered questions about what it is like to be an author, and signed books for students.
